A 75-minute workshop example
One lesson.
Less repeat prep.
Stop rewriting the same lesson information into three different resources. Use AI to draft them together, then apply your teaching judgment.
- Bring
- A lesson you already teach, its learning objective and a short source text or task. No student names, records or work samples.
- Make
- Student instructions, one worked example and a three-question exit ticket with draft answers.
- Take away
- Reviewed drafts, a reusable planning prompt and a short quality checklist.
A concrete teaching task
For example: Grade 6 students explain how evidence supports a claim. Start with one supplied paragraph and the learning goal, not “write me a lesson.”
The AI brief: “Using only this paragraph, draft student instructions, a worked example and three exit-ticket questions. Keep all three focused on explaining the link between evidence and a claim. Include draft answers. Flag missing information instead of inventing it.”
The teacher’s check: Does the example explain the reasoning? Do the questions assess that reasoning, or just ask students to recall a fact?
How we use the 75 minutes
Define the learning and the repeat work
Choose a familiar lesson. Identify what you keep retyping and what students must actually learn. Set privacy boundaries.
Watch a draft get checked
I model giving AI the source, objective, audience and constraints. We catch an exit-ticket question that tests the wrong thing.
Build your own resource set
Draft instructions, a worked example and an exit ticket for your lesson. Revise anything inaccurate, unclear or misaligned.
Test it with a colleague
Can someone follow the instructions? Is the example correct? Would the exit ticket reveal a misunderstanding?
Make the process reusable
Save the prompt and checklist. Name what you will try next and one thing you still need to review before classroom use.
Less duplication. Better checks.
The workload benefit is reusing one source and brief across several resources. The teaching benefit is checking that every resource serves the same learning goal.
This is a sample topic, tailored to the subjects and experience in the room. No guaranteed time saving or classroom impact is implied by completing the session.
